Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

For your freedom while riding: the GRX RX820 1x12-speed disc group from Shimano
Gravelbiking should not be a complicated matter. The appeal of this cycling discipline with the drop bar and dirt roads lies in its simplicity, openness and adventure. No ride is impossible. Everyone can ride. The equipment should be functional and reliable without breaking the budget. That's why whether you're a seasoned gravel veteran or a newcomer to the rough roads and trails, you'll be thrilled with the latest version of the GRX, Shimano's groundbreaking and industry-first gravel-specific component group.
If you're aiming for personal best times on your next tour or want to compete in a race, you'll appreciate the RX820 1x12 setup's shifting levels with a 10-45 cassette and 40- or 42-tooth chainring. Just like its 11-speed predecessor, the RX820 offers smooth, reliable shifting, but now features a wider range and an extra sprocket, making it easier to find the optimal cadence to maintain your position in the field. This system uses a mid-cage rear derailleur with an integrated SHADOW PLUS chain stabilizer for quieter shifting and a more secure chain guide on rough terrain. Don't worry about the next shift, just focus on leaving the competition behind.
If all-day - or multi-day - adventures with lots of climbs are your thing, the new RX820 1x12 UNSTOPPABLE option with SHIMANO's wide 10-51T cassette range is ideal. Combined with a 40- or 42-inch chainring, you'll never run out of gears on even the steepest village road or in the high mountains. Like the 1x12 variant with 10-45T, this group also has an integrated SHADOW-PLUS chain stabilizer for optimum chain security and an ON/OFF switch, which allows for quick and easy removal of the wheel in the event of a puncture.
Both 1x12 options use Micro Spline, Shimano's lightweight aluminum freewheel design that pairs seamlessly with a small 10-tooth sprocket and features smaller, more widely spaced teeth that reduce sprocket wear. The 1x12 Gravel crankset is offered in three crank arm lengths, so you can choose the ideal Shimano GRX setup for your needs and riding style.
Alongside this range of Gravel-tuned gear options are the new ST-RX820 brake/shift levers. The new lever design was developed specifically for use with flare handlebars, which play an important role in graveling. It relies on a non-slip surface texture and significantly improved ergonomics that reduce pressure on your palms. Together, these changes increase comfort and control so you can fearlessly tackle tricky terrain or focus on the gravel road ahead.
The new GRX brake levers feature Shimano's Dual Control system with lightweight and responsive 12-speed mechanical shifting. While the left lever on the 2x12 GRX groupset offers Shimano's unmatched smooth derailleur shifting, the new 1x12 groupsets feature two left lever options: a brake lever-only model and a dropper-specific option that seamlessly integrates brake and dropper post operation for quick and effortless operation.

Evaluations
Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars
Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars
