Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

For your riding freedom: the GRX Di2 RX825 2x12-speed disc groupset from Shimano
Gravel biking shouldn't be complicated. The appeal of this cycling discipline with its drop bar and unpaved roads lies in its simplicity, openness and adventure. No ride is impossible. Everyone can ride. The equipment should be functional and reliable without breaking the budget. That's why the latest version of GRX, Shimano's groundbreaking and industry-first gravel-specific component group, will excite you whether you're a seasoned gravel veteran or a newcomer to the rough roads and trails.
For riders looking for the best of both worlds, the new 2x12 RX825 UNDROPPABLE drivetrain is the right choice. With a gravel-optimized 48/31 or 46/30 chainring combination up front and an 11-34 or 11-36 cassette, this drivetrain offers an extremely wide gear range so you can ride at a comfortable cadence whether you're pedaling on the flats, facing endless dirt trails or tackling a massive off-road climb.
Alongside this range of gear ratio options, there are the new ST-RX825 brake/shift levers. The new lever design has been specially developed for use with flare handlebars, which play an important role in gravel riding. It relies on a non-slip surface structure and significantly improved ergonomics that reduce the pressure on your palms. Together, these changes increase comfort and control so you can fearlessly tackle tricky terrain or focus on the gravel road ahead.
This setup offers precise front and rear shifting and integrated SHADOW-PLUS chain stabilization for ultimate confidence on bumpy surfaces. The gravel-specific 2x12 option provides a tighter rear cassette gradation, ideal for fine cadence changes during competitions and fast-paced weekend group rides.
The new wireless Di2 platform ensures fast and smooth shifting at the front derailleur. It also offers a choice between manual shifting and synchronized shift assist modes - SEMI-SYNCHRO or FULL-SYNCHRO - that feel like your own personal assistant! In SEMI-SYNCHRO mode, the rear derailleur automatically adjusts to avoid large jumps in the gear ratio, allowing you to maintain your cadence and rhythm. In FULL SYNCHRO mode, the rear derailleur and front derailleur work together harmoniously so that you always have the right gear engaged and no longer need to worry. Seamless communication with the rear derailleur combined with programmed control of the chain guide minimizes the risk of the chain jumping off.
The fully and semi-synchronized shifting functions can be selected in the E-TUBE app. Thanks to the digital precision of the electronic shifting and its coordinated communication between the front derailleur and rear derailleur, the SHIMANO GRX front derailleur offers an excellent shifting experience

Technologies
SEIS SHIMANO ELECTRONIC INTELLIGENT SYSTEMThe innovative shifting technology of the SEIS is still based on the SHIMANO INDEX SYSTEM (SIS), whose outstanding shifting performance has proven itself over many years. The main difference between the systems is that the shifting process is no longer mechanical, but electronic. This electronic shifting system has been extensively tested in recent years by several professional cyclists under all conceivable conditions, e.g. in rain, mud, extreme cold, on cobblestones and a combination of these factors. Shifting is done by simply pressing a button. No effort is required to shift gears, which has clear advantages as the rider always has a firm grip on the handlebars and can concentrate on riding without being distracted by shifting gears. The shifting system enables precise and effortless shifting in all situations, even with cold hands or when the rider is completely exhausted. The shifting performance can also no longer be affected by dirty or stretched cables, as the shift signal is transmitted electronically. The operating buttons work in a similar way to mechanical dual control levers, making it easy to get used to the SEIS.
E-Tube
The E-Tube platform offers optimum flexibility. E-Tube transmits interactive signals and supplies all parts with power via plug & play connections. E-Tube is resistant to corrosion, expansion and frost and ensures low maintenance. And the SMPCE1 establishes the connection between PC and components to update the firmware. Digital devices stay up to date by updating the firmware and offer better function.
Shimano Shadow RD+
Quiet drivetrain and less distraction. Rear derailleur stabilizer reduces chain slap. Simple solution to prevent the chain from jumping off. Lighter and more efficient than chain devices with rollers.
