Scales for bikes and components – every gram counts
According to an old prejudice, all cyclists, but especially road cyclists, are weight fanatics, not so much when it comes to their own body weight, but more in terms of what the frame, fork and other parts of their bike weigh. However, you don't have to be a weight weenie to be interested in the weight of your wheelset, tyres, rear derailleur etc. or possible deviations from the manufacturer's specifications. What you need in such cases is a reliable scale that allows you to measure, down to the gram, how much anything weighs. Whether digital or analogue: while a tabletop scale is ideal for weighing smaller components such as derailleurs and brakes, there is no getting around a hanging scale when it comes to determining the weight of frames, forks or wheels.
