Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

For your freedom while driving: the GRX RX820/610 1x12-speed disc group from Shimano
Finally, for more price-sensitive customers and to allow a wider price range for complete gravel bikes, Shimano has updated its 600 series cranks and shifters for 1x12 and 2x12 setups, which now use technology from the original 800 series GRX component line as the result of a "trickle-down" process.
Key features include textured covers and a non-slip coating on the brake levers that improves control over rough terrain. The new cranksets offer gear options specifically designed to meet the demands of gravel riding. The 2x12 crank features a 46 and 30 chainring and is available in 165, 170, 172.5 and 175mm crank arm lengths. The RX610 1x12 crank has the same four crank arm lengths and is recently available with a heavy-duty 38T or even the traditional 40T chainring. These options are combined with a 10-45 or 10-51 cassette.
