SUPERNOVA HIGH BEAM
Supernova is the first manufacturer to launch an approved high-beam headlight for bicycles. Since the new legislation came into force, high-beam headlights have become one of the most important innovations in the bicycle lighting industry. As well as providing greater range, high-beam headlights offer exceptional illumination and significantly increase safety. For the first time, an approved bicycle light provides illumination for areas with limited visibility, where cyclists can spot overhanging branches, signs, junctions and pedestrians who are difficult to see more quickly – no matter how steep or winding the trail! Our Supernova high beam has an extremely wide beam angle. This ensures excellent peripheral vision, which in turn makes the other advantages described below possible.
ADVANTAGE OF HIGH BEAM FOR CORNER ILLUMINATION
Supernova uses a special high beam with an extra-wide beam angle, which provides improved illumination particularly above the main beam, meaning that signs and, for example, overhanging branches are illuminated much more effectively. This also improves cornering illumination immensely! With standard headlamps that only have a dipped-beam function, the dipped beam tilts to the side when cornering, meaning that a significant part of the bend is no longer illuminated. The greatly increased luminosity of the Supernova high beam, on the other hand, shines far beyond the glare horizon and illuminates deep into the bend. This results in vastly improved illumination of the road when cornering and thus a huge gain in safety for the cyclist.
HIGH BEAM COMPENSATES FOR FORK COMPRESSION
This problem is particularly well known with MTBs: these often have long suspension travel, which compresses significantly during braking, sometimes reducing the beam range by up to 90 per cent. Supernova’s special high beam is optimised to provide a particularly high level of light above the light-dark boundary, thereby compensating for fork movement and maintaining visibility of the trail. When riding into the trail from the city, you can ride without dazzling other road users in dipped-beam mode. The main beam can be switched on at the touch of a button whenever required.
