The strongest system is a chain with no weak points. The SRAM XX1 Eagle™ chain links have a uniform radius with no sharp edges or notches, which together significantly reduce noise, friction and wear. This design also allows the plates to be made flatter and narrower, resulting in more consistent riveting and greater overall strength.
It is one of the key factors in ensuring the ultra-smooth, precise, robust and quiet shifting performance of our 10-50-tooth cassette and X-Sync2 chainrings. It is fitted using the special 12-speed Eagle™ PowerLock® connecting link.

HARD CHROME™
The SRAM HARD CHROME™ chain has four times the (wear) resistance of our other chains. This is due to our new machining process for the inner links and rollers. The push-pin strength and overall strength are on a par with our current chains. The HARD CHROME™ chain lasts longer and is extremely robust.
PowerLock
SRAM’s chain engineers have developed PowerLock as a tool-free, secure and consistent way to connect our chains. Although no special tools are required for fitting PL, given the tight tolerance range of a 10- and 11-speed drivetrain, each PowerLock can only be used once.
X-SYNC™
SRAM’s X-SYNC™ 1x chainrings deliver maximum performance and durability. The long SRAM X-SYNC™ tooth edges engage the chain earlier than traditional triangular teeth. The sharp, narrow tooth profile and the rounded, bevelled edges help guide the chain. To deliver the best possible performance even on muddy terrain, the X-SYNC™ chainrings feature recesses to clear dirt and mud away from the inner chain links and rollers. Manufactured in Germany, the X-SYNC™ chainrings are a key component of SRAM’s 1x™ drivetrain.
Eagle™
Eagle™ technology represents our latest 1x drivetrain technology. Eagle™ is a lighter, simpler, more durable and easier-to-use drivetrain. Eagle™ features brand-new 1x components that deliver even greater durability and performance, whilst offering a significant weight advantage over other drivetrain solutions. Eagle™ technology also boasts an extended gear range of 500 per cent, matching that of 2x11 drivetrains.
FLOWLINK™
The chain’s ultra-smooth inner links are completely free of sharp edges. This reduces friction against the cassette and chainring. The result: quiet performance and a longer service life for the components. The chain’s design allows for a narrower profile, making it more resistant to twisting. Thanks to its smoother outer links, the riveting is more uniform and the tensile strength is higher.
