Precise, smooth shifting: with Shimano’s XT 11-speed RD-M8000 GS rear derailleur
The rear derailleur of the new DEORE XT M8000 has undergone a complete redesign. Naturally, the DEORE XT M8000 rear derailleur features SHIMANO’s optimised SHADOW+ technology and is also characterised by a shallow angle of engagement and an extremely low-profile design. Low shifting forces are just as much a part of the XT rear derailleur’s feature list as improved chain stabilisation and precise yet smooth gear changes. The newly designed derailleur pulleys have been further optimised for chains running at an angle and, with their larger teeth, also contribute to improved shifting performance. As with the XTR, the friction damper of the SHADOW+ mechanism has been fitted with an adjustment feature that allows the mechanism to be optimised for either maximum stability or minimum operating forces. The DEORE XT M8000 rear derailleur is Direct Mount compatible and is available in the GS version (medium-length cage) for 1- and 2-speed systems, as well as in the SGS version with a long cage for 3-speed set-ups.
