- Wind tunnel tested – The life of a wheelset such as the Reserve 42|49 begins with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), with the aim of maximising aerodynamics whilst optimising stability. Reserve’s exclusive wind tunnel tests then provide data focused on simulating real-world airflow, allowing us to validate performance targets in a sterile and controlled environment. The result is one of the most stable and aerodynamic wheelsets Reserve has ever produced.
- Robust and lightweight – Optimising the rims’ load-bearing capacity and weight is a comprehensive process that begins at the Carbon Lab in Santa Cruz, California. Reserve not only works on developing the carbon lay-up, but has also developed its own test protocol to simulate real-world impacts and spoke loads on the wheelsets. This enables them to define the precise fibre alignment for each rim model to maximise stiffness and strength.
