Technologies
MaxxTerra
As a single-compound tyre, the new MaxxTerra rubber compound is the logical evolution of the previous MaxxTerra triple-compound tyre. Developed in the laboratory and perfected by team and test riders on trails around the world, it delivers more grip and greater durability whilst maintaining consistently low rolling resistance. In figures, tread life has been increased by 30 per cent and grip by 15 per cent. This means better performance and more riding enjoyment, and less time spent changing tyres.
EXO+ Protection
The new EXO+ carcass is based on a 60 TPI carcass coated with an abrasion-resistant rubber. The tyre sidewalls feature a reinforced, rubberised EXO puncture protection layer, whilst a short butyl insert sits above the tyre bead. This makes tyres with EXO+ Protection ideal for aggressive trail riding and lighter enduro racing, and particularly well-suited to the higher torque and weight of e-MTBs.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tyres on bicycles offer many advantages. You can ride with lower air pressure, which improves traction; rolling resistance is lower than with an inner tube; and using a sealant instead of an inner tube significantly reduces the risk of punctures, as small holes are easily sealed. In MTB competitions, TR tyres are now almost exclusively used, and their popularity is also growing steadily amongst road cyclists.
Wide Trail Casing
The Wide Trail (WT) construction optimises the tread pattern and tyre shape for today’s modern, wider rims. Traditional tyres are designed for narrow rims and take on an overly angular shape on wide rims, resulting in less than optimal performance.
WT tyres are optimised for an internal rim width of 35 mm, but perform excellently on all rims with an internal width between 30 and 40 mm.
