Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

Product information "MX242-X Wide - MTB Shoes"
The MX242 combines Lake's many years of experience, modern materials and advanced shoe technologies in a high-performance MTB shoe. Developed for hard-to-fit foot types, it offers an exceptionally flexible fit solution for narrow or wide feet as well as for high or low insteps. Thanks to the special construction with independent zones, pressure points can be specifically relieved and sensitive areas optimally adapted.
The shoe has a larger toe box and a close-fitting heel for a secure hold during intensive rides and races. At the same time, there is enough space in the forefoot area to avoid pressure when running or carrying the bike in demanding terrain.
The Lake Competition 100% carbon fibre sole combines maximum power transmission with a robust Mountain Competition rubber sole for additional protection and secure grip on any surface. High-quality materials such as Helcor abrasion-resistant leather, Ecco full-grain leather and the Nufoam lining ensure a high level of comfort and durability. The heat-mouldable heel cap additionally improves heel hold and supports a stable fit. The integrated BOA® Fit System with Li2 twist locks enables a precise, micro-adjustable fit in both directions and impresses with its high resistance in tough off-road use.
