Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

Product information "Proxy Wide - MTB Shoes"
High-performance off-road racing shoe for XC, CX & Gravel: the Fizik Proxy MTB shoe
The upper material consists of a transparent, PU-laminated mesh that is particularly well ventilated and at the same time offers stability and protection against external influences. This construction significantly reduces the weight of the shoe without reducing its durability. The fit is regulated by a minimalist BOA® system with Li2 platform, which works with textile lace guides. It enables even pressure distribution, eliminates pressure points and can be adjusted with millimeter precision - even while riding.
The newly developed, carbon-reinforced X3 outsole ensures increased stiffness and maximum power transfer to the pedal. At the same time, the generous rubber tread guarantees excellent traction when running, for example in cyclocross races or carrying passages. The Proxy combines the speed and responsiveness needed for explosive starts in CX, fast XC maneuvers or long, fast gravel races with the comfort and safety that are essential on rough terrain.
Whether sprinting from the start line, maneuvering through technical trails or on long stages, the Proxy offers the performance needed to prevail in any off-road race.

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars
Punktabzug. Gewicht der Schuhe: 420gr je Schuh inkl. Cleat. Also schwerer als die Herstellerangabe. Optisch super. Ob er lange hält, wird sich zeigen. Preis im Januar 2026: 185€
