I previously trued wheels using a plastic indicator mounted on the bike. After trying the Radon Truing Stand R513, which did not meet my expectations, I purchased this stand as a more affordable alternative to Park Tool for occasional use. Although it is a one-sided stand, I prefer it by far. The construction is very well engineered, it supports both traditional quick-release wheels and thru-axles without adapters, and the caliper arm is easy to adjust. The stand feels stable and solid in use. Most importantly, wheel truing became noticeably easier and more accurate. Compared with the Radon stand, which felt heavier but less confidence-inspiring, this stand performs much better. It is also significantly less expensive than comparable Park Tool or Radon models and folds away easily when not in use. The savings were enough to purchase a tension meter and a wheel dishing gauge as well. These together make wheel truing a breeze, and I feel confident enough to start building my own wheels.
