Vectran Breaker - The benchmark in puncture protection
Vectran™ is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fibre from a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran™ is a liquid-crystalline polymer (LCP). Vectran™ is spun from the melted liquid polymer Vectra and processed further to a multi-strand thread. Spider silk like Vectran™ has an enormous tear resistance at a very low weight: Exactly the right properties to process into a premium Continental bicycle tire as a puncture protection insert. A Vectran™ Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects more effectively against cuts than the comparable nylon breaker. Vectran™ Breaker does not adversely affect the rolling resistance.
BlackChili Compound - It’s all about how you mix it
The rolling properties of the rubber compound of a tire are primarily determined by three interacting factors – stiction [grip], rolling resistance and mileage [longevity] . The dilemma: If you improve any of these factors it can have a detrimental effect on at least one of the others. A tire with maximum grip wears quicker and rolls more slowly. If you then make a tire roll faster and more durable, grip, in turn, is reduced. With our Black Chili compound, a tread compound which is always based on the latest knowledge of polymers and raw material research, we have supplied the cycling industry with an enduring solution. Depending on the application of a tire, we adjust the compound formulation for the specific discipline – for road or mountain biking, time trialling or downhill racing. How does that work? For Black Chili we refine special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to high-performance tread mixtures. To these mixtures we then add soot particles, which in turn are optimised in shape and surface properties.

Bisher 900km gefahren mit Butylschlauch und 1A Performance, keine Platten o.Ä. Laufen super rund und liegen vom Gewicht nah am Datenblatt.
Des pneus performants et increvables. usés jusqu'au bout et pas de crevaison. A noter pour Bike discount, commandé le dimanche soir et reçus le mardi !!!! impeccable
Rollt gut, hat gute Straßenhaftung und sieht gut aus. Allerdings hatte ich nach der ersten Ausfahrt gleich einen Platten (Durchstich). Das hatte ich mit Pirellis schon ewig nicht mehr. Ob das nun an diesem Mantel lag wird sich zeigen. Allerdings trübt es das Gesamtbild etwas.
Guter Pannenschutz - gute Laufleistung
Grip und Rollverhalten wie beim schwarzen Bruder, aber sieht dazu noch besser ;-) aus!!! bin sehr zufrieden, versand schnell.
