Zipp XPLR SW Carbon wheelset

The Zipp 303 XPLR SW wheelset is built to tackle your biggest gravel challenges. And just how big? This wheelset is the fastest on unpaved terrain – not least thanks to its mega-wide rim, which combines seamlessly with approved gravel tyres.* Most gravel wheelsets are modified versions of existing road bike wheelsets, which focus primarily on stiffness and low weight. Zipp takes a different approach. On gravel, wind resistance and friction slow the rider down just as much as the vibrations caused by uneven surfaces. To counteract this, Zipp has specifically applied its ‘Total System Efficiency’ design philosophy to the challenges of gravel riding. The wide rim profile increases tyre volume, allowing for lower tyre pressures without compromising stability. This means you absorb vibrations from the ground whilst maintaining the grip needed for corners and the traction required for steep climbs. The rim profile also creates a seamless transition to the gravel tyres, ensuring efficient aerodynamics on gravel. And despite its width, the 303 XPLR SW wheelset remains lightweight, so you can enjoy those fulfilling days in the saddle as quickly and refreshed as possible.

Goodyear XPLR Slick designed for Zipp

The Goodyear XPLR Slick is part of a wheelset and tyre system that is changing the gravel game. It is a semi-slick gravel race tyre developed for Zipp’s specialist 303 XPLR SW and S wheelsets, and represents the fastest wheel-tyre combination on flat to moderately rough gravel. It performs best in dry conditions. These days, gravel wheel systems are usually slightly sturdier versions of what’s available for the road: light, stiff, narrow and aerodynamic. The problem is that riding on gravel causes harmful vibrations that slow you down and tire you out over time. Furthermore, gravel tyres generally negate the aerodynamic benefits of traditionally narrow road rims. The Slick is designed to measure 40 mm on the 303 XPLR wheel. The new XPLR wheel and tyre system takes a completely new approach, optimising the dimensions of the components to achieve the fastest setup on the market. In addition to unrivalled aerodynamic benefits for gravel riding, the resulting rim width also allows for lower tyre pressure, which helps to filter out vibrations and thus save even more energy. The XPLR Slick offers the most aerodynamic gravel setup with 303 XPLR SW and S wheels and is best suited to racing on flat gravel in dry conditions. Its smooth centre ensures fast rolling, whilst the texture and side grip provide a secure feel. The lightweight and supple construction enhances ride quality. The M:Wall reinforcements in the sidewalls offer puncture protection against cuts and punctures, allowing the rider to get by with the lowest possible tyre pressure. Finally, the tyre bead dimensions are designed to ensure easy fitting and a secure hold on Zipp TSS rims. Only approved tyres may be used on XPLR wheelsets.
