Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

Product information "Splined Carrier Adapter with Snap Ring Circlip small"
Features
- All Rohloff sprockets are reversible and designed for a chainline of 55mm (position like large chainring on 3-speed Shimano cranks)
- Due to the extended number of teeth in the pinion, more chainring / sprocket combinations result
Material
- Stainless steel
Weight
- 38g
Scope of delivery
- 1 Rohloff Splined Carrier pinion adapter with circlip narrow
Recommendation
For everyday use, a gear ratio of factor approx. 2.5 - 2.8 has proven to be common. For off-road use of the SPEEDHUB in 29er/27.5" MTB or Fatbikes a very light mountain gear is desired -> which can be achieved with a smaller factor of up to 1.9.To exclude an overload of the gearbox, a minimum chain ratio (factor 1.9) must not be undercut for safety reasons. The smallest permissible chain ratios for solo riders up to max 100 kg are: 40/21, 36/19, 34/18, 32/17, 30/16, 28/15, 26/14 and 26/13 = factor ~ 1.9.
For tandem use or persons over 100 kg body weight, the following chainring/pinion tooth combinations (factor = 2.5) must not be undercut: 34/13, 35/14, 38/15, 40/16, 42/17, 45/18, 48/19, 52/21.
ATTENTION
For the combination of plug-in sprocket with chain tensioner, a long fixing bolt with washers must be used to adjust to chainline 58mm.
The use of a closed chain guard (Hebie, etc.) must be individually checked for compatibility. In no case may the rotating hub shell or the splined carrier come into contact with the chain guard or drag along!
For special cases where an adjustment of the chainline is not possible (eg special chain case, chain in the rear running, collision with chain stay due to unusually narrow installation space) we offer the Splined Carrier S (Art.Nr. 8540S) for chainline 55mm. This is to be used exclusively for pinion 15Z-19 + 21Z and is not compatible with pinion 13Z + 14Z and not suitable for Gates pulleys.
