I bought a used MTB long ago and I could ride it through the worst muddy terrains without losing grip and I wondered what kind of magic this was. The answer was that it had a pair of old Smokes mounted on it, and even in pretty worn-out state they still offered insane grip. I was glad to see that this tyre is still being produced, as it made the choice pretty easy when they needed to be replaced. You can use this as a front tyre, but I now use a Dart for that and it is also excellent. As with the Dart, the effective width is closer to 2.0" than 2.1".
