DT Swiss XM 1700 Spline® 30 CL Boost 29" Rear Wheel
Product information "XM 1700 Spline® 30 CL Boost 29" Rear Wheel"
DT Swiss' claim for the XM 1700 Spline® is simple: the best aluminium all-mountain wheels - full stop. The 1700 Spline® series from DT Swiss combines the lightness and advantages of aluminium rims, which meet modern tubeless requirements in terms of form and function, with sophisticated hub technology. The 350 hub is a DT Swiss classic and is flanked by robust spokes. For the 1700 concept, DT Swiss asked mountain bikers: What would you install if you were putting together a wheelset? Voilà, the all-mountain answer: XM 1700 Spline®!
XM 1700 Spline® 30 Boost - the all-mountain benchmark for lightweight aluminium rims
DT Swiss rims are known and appreciated for their low weight, high quality and strength. Today, high-quality light alloy rims are all welded. In combination with DT Swiss' unique PHR nipple spoke joining disc, which distributes the load over a large area, the Swiss wheel specialists have been able to reduce the wall thickness and keep the rotational mass low. DT Swiss developed specific rim profiles to meet the requirements of the various areas of application.
But good components alone do not make a top wheel - the final step is crucial. Only the professional assembly turns quality components into a quality wheel. Like all DT Swiss wheels, the 1700 Spline is built by hand. Every day, hundreds of wheels are produced by hand in factories in Switzerland, Poland, Asia and America, because no machine is capable of achieving the high quality standards and minimal tolerances.

More width
Wider than ever: 30 mm rim width means less rolling resistance. Cross-country wheels are ideal for fast races: On a rough surface, rolling resistance can account for up to 69% of total resistance.
SPEED = ENERGY / MOMENT OF INERTIA + ROLLING RESISTANCE + CLIMBING RESISTANCE + AERODYNAMIC DRAG
Rolling resistance is defined as: Rolling resistance coefficient x weight x acceleration due to gravity. The coefficient is defined by wheel size, tyre cross-section, tyre characteristics, tyre pressure, tread and ground. While most of these factors are hardly influenced by the wheel, at least the contact area of the tyre can be modified. A wider rim provides improved tyre contact, which makes lower tyre pressure possible and leads to less rolling resistance on rough roads.
The 350 Hub + 36T Ratchet SL System
The DT Swiss 350 hub is equipped with a famous ratchet system: All teeth of the two ratchets engage simultaneously and form a large contact surface to transmit enormous torque. Since the entire end faces engage with each other, only many small point loads are generated. The result is the legendary reliability of the ratchet system. Thanks to the tool-free concept, the hub is easy to maintain and the freehub body of the hub can be rebuilt without the use of tools. For the 1700 SPLINE®, the 350 has been upgraded with the 36T Ratschet SL system (SL stands for super light thanks to milled-out ratchets). It reduces the engagement angle to 10 degrees, which is the sweet spot in terms of reliability, weight and power transmission.
Straightpull technology
Straightpull stands for straight, uncranked spokes. Thanks to this technology, it is possible to achieve an ideal ratio between weight and stability. The Straightpull spokes allow very precise alignment and optimised positioning in the wheel and thus ensure a stiffer and more responsive wheel.
