Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

Product information "EX 1700 Spline® 30 6-bolt Boost 29" Rear Wheel"
EX 1700 Spline® 30 Boost — Enduro Benchmark Aluminum Rims
The 1700 Spline® series from DT Swiss combines the lightness and advantages of aluminum wheels, which meet modern tubeless requirements in form and function, with sophisticated hub technology. The 350 hub is a DT Swiss classic and is flanked by robust spokes. DT Swiss has asked mountain bikers about the concept: What would you use if you built a wheelset? Voilà, the enduro answer: EX 1700 Spline®!
DT Swiss rims are known and valued for their low weight, high quality and strength. Top notch alloy rims are all welded today. In combination with DT Swiss' unique PHR nipple-spoke interface washer, which distribute the load on a large area, the Swiss wheel specialists were able to reduce the wall thickness, keeping the rotational mass low. To meet the requirements of various fields of application DT Swiss developed specific rim profiles.
Reliable components are not enough to create to a reliable wheel — the final step is decisive. The way a wheel is built is what turns quality components into a quality wheel. Like all wheels developed by DT Swiss, the 1700 Spline is assembled by hand. With the highest precision and the smallest possible tolerance, which until now would never be reached by a conventional wheel building machine, hundreds of wheels are assembled every week in Switzerland, Poland, Asia, and in America — by hand.

Wider width
More width than ever: 30mm inner width mean less rolling resistance. Cross Country wheels are ideal for fast racing, therefore it’s necessary to minimise resistance wherever possible. On a rough surface, rolling resistance can make up to 69% of the total resistance.
SPEED = ENERGY / INTERTIA MOMENT + ROLLING RESISTANCE + GRADE RESISTANCE + DRAG
Rolling resistance is defined as: rolling resistance coefficient x weight x gravitational acceleration. The coefficient is defined by wheel size, tyre section, tyre characteristics, tyre pressure, tread and soil. While most of those factors are hardly influenced by the wheel, DT Swiss modified the tyre support. A wider rim provides improved tyre support which offers lower tyre pressure and leads to less rolling resistance on rough tracks.
The 350 Hub + 36T Ratchet SL System
The DT Swiss 350 is equipped with a famous Ratchet System. What makes the Ratchet System hubs truly unique, is the fact that all the teeth of the two ratchets engage simultaneously and create a large contact surface to transmit huge torque. The fact that the whole front faces engage, creates much smaller point loads. The result is the legendary reliability of the Ratchet System. Thanks to the no-tool concept, the hub is very easy to maintain and the free hub body can be converted without the use of any tools. For the 1700 SPLINE® the 350 was upgraded by a 36T Ratchet SL system (SL stands for super lightweight achieved by machined out ratchets). It reduces the engagement angle to 10 degrees, which is the sweet spot in terms of reliability, weight and power transmission.
SPLINE® Technology
With their intricately machined hub shells, cleverly positioned spokes and proven freewheel technology, DT Swiss SPLINE® wheels are engineered with modern riding needs in mind. SPLINE® allows riders to go faster and further, ultimately making the cycling experience even more fun.The combination of high attention to detail and the legendary DT Swiss reliability featured with SPLINE® will make you smile ride after ride, year after year.
Straightpull technology
The term Straightpull refers to spokes with no bend at the head. This design allows for an ideal strength to weight ratio when compared to conventional spokes. Due to their more precise alignment and direct trajectory, straight-pull spoke technology creates a stiffer, more responsive wheel.
DT Swiss Support for Conversion
The support site offers an overview and can help you to find the right conversion kit to convert your hub to fit a new axle measurement or for a new group set.
