Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

DT Swiss technologies
ARC rim technology
DT Swiss is a disc fan: the greater freedom provided by the disc brake system opens up completely new possibilities for the Swiss wheel specialists in terms of rim shape. The two established rim shapes V and U in the road bike industry have become VU. The ARC wheels of the second generation combine the shapes and achieve the tapered rim end and the more voluminous rim body with the synthesis - and thus optimum aerodynamics.
More width = less rolling resistance: mouth at → 20 mm!
Wider tires have a positive effect on rolling resistance. Due to the larger volume, they have a wider contact area and can be ridden with less air pressure. As a result, the tire deforms less than with narrow tires and the rolling resistance decreases. Rolling resistance is about more than just the forces that have to be applied to roll on different surfaces or overcome obstacles. Wider rim widths and wider tires support riding characteristics such as traction and comfort, which are also an important part of the DT Swiss concept. The second generation has a 20 mm rim width at the front and 25 or 28 mm at the rear.
Spokes rethought: DT Swiss spoke technology
The new shapes of the DT-aerolite-II and DT-aero-comp-II spokes have a significantly positive influence on rotational drag. In combination with the optimal alignment of the T-head spokes, this results in more overall speed. Due to the flat forging process of the spokes, the steel is compacted more, which leads to increased tensile strength. This makes them lighter with the same tensile strength.
Cooperation with Swiss Side
DT Swiss has been working with Swiss Side, the leading aerodynamics experts in the road bike industry, for more than five years. With more than 20 years of technical experience in Formula 1 aerodynamics and more recently in world-class cycling innovations, Jean-Paul Ballard (also known as JP) is the mastermind and mastermind behind Swiss Side.
