Cervélo calls these rides ‘Big, Stupid Rides’, and since the Caledonia was launched in 2020, athletes around the world have been discovering just how magnificently stupid these rides can be. The Caledonia-5 is designed for long-distance racing and high speeds – the riding position and handling are geared towards comfort, without compromising that signature Cervélo road bike feel on the road.
With the new Caledonia-5, Cervélo has focused on improvements that make a difference when you’re pushing yourself to the limit. The biggest innovation is the integrated storage compartment in the frame, first introduced on the new P-Series.
It is not a boot for large luggage, but offers space for a multi-tool, inner tube and CO₂ cartridge. Cervelo has also improved comfort. The seat stays are lowered, similar to the Aspero, making the rear end flatter and more vertically flexible. At the same time, the down tube is slightly stiffer to retain the agile handling for which the Caledonia is renowned. You can still fit large tyres (36 mm), and every bike comes with mudguard mounts.
Like all Cervélos, the Caledonia-5 is UCI-certified and comes with a lifetime guarantee. Cervelo builds bikes for racing that are built to last.
Storage space in the frame
The storage compartment in the Caledonia-5’s frame is new and offers space for an inner tube, a multi-tool and a CO₂ cartridge. Hidden away until you need it. The flap is easy to remove even when wearing gloves – simply flip the catch and pull.
Aerodynamics
All Cervélo bikes are aero bikes. And when you’ve been living on sandwiches and gummy bears for three days and are racing flat out through every checkpoint, you’ll appreciate every bit of speed you can get. The fully internal cable routing and aerodynamic tube shapes help you battle the wind.
