Product information "Apax Jr. MIPS Royal-Blue Matt (51-56 cm) - Youth MTB Helmet"

The Apax Jr. Mips is inspired by the adult model. The MTB helmet offers all junior mountain bikers the best possible protection in the terrain. Mips included.

Lightweight off-road helmet: the Apax Jr. MIPS from Alpina

The low weight, Mips, the large head cover, the long list of features and the attractive price make the Apax Jr. Mips a must-have for anyone who likes to ride off-road.

The low weight is achieved through inmold production, in which the upper shell is thermally bonded to the Hi-EPS. This creates a solid surface connection, which is responsible for a very stable construction. The lower edge of the helmet is protected by another polycarbonate shell. The back of the head and temple area are pulled far down for maximum safety. This provides even greater head coverage.

In the event of a fall with an angled impact, Mips is designed to help reduce the rotational forces acting on the head. Large ventilation openings ensure optimum ventilation, fly screens keep insects away from the head and the visor guarantees additional protection in the field of vision. With the Run System Classic in combination with the height-adjustable Custom Fit, the bike helmet can be optimally adapted to the head.

Features - Apax Jr. MIPS

  • MIPS: is a system that protects against brain injuries that can be caused by rotational movements in the event of an impact
  • Airflow Venting: directs cooling air along the head
  • Fly Net: the front ventilation openings of the helmet are fitted with a mesh fabric
  • Ceramic Shell: break- and scratch-resistant, UV-stable and antistatic
  • Edge Protect: increases the durability of the helmet by covering the edges
  • Ergomatic: closure that can be operated with one hand and remains firmly closed in the event of a fall
  • Hi-EPS: small air chambers absorb forces in the event of an impact to protect the head
  • Inmold: the thermal connection between the upper and lower shell makes the helmet light and stable
  • Run System Ergo Flex: a smooth-running rotary wheel allows the helmet size to be adjusted
  • Y-Clip: guarantees precise adjustment of the seating position and therefore the best possible protection
  • Head circumference: 51-56 cm

Technologies

AIR FLOW VENTING
Alpina developers devote a lot of time and energy to continuously improving the ventilation of our bike helmets. Through wind tunnel-tested arrangement of the vents, our engineers create a "Venturi" effect inside the helmet, which cools the head, leads to less sweat and higher performance.

FLY NET
The front ventilation openings of the helmet are fitted with a mesh fabric. This fulfills the same function as an insect screen and prevents insect bites on the scalp in hot and humid riding periods and locations.

CERAMIC SHELL
All Inmold-manufactured helmets from Alpina are fitted with this shatterproof and scratch-resistant polycarbonate shell. The blank is stretched under high heat to the shape of the later helmet and pressed under high pressure onto its Hi-EPS body. The material is characterized by several qualities at the same time: It is break- and scratch-resistant, UV-stable and antistatic.

EDGE PROTECT
Edge Protect is a processing method that ensures that Inmold helmets have no sharp edges. This reduces the risk of injury in two ways: firstly, hands are protected when handling the helmet, and secondly, in the event of an impact, the neck and shoulder area are protected from scratches on contact with the lower edge of the helmet.

ERGOMATIC
Tried and tested hundreds of thousands of times and used in all Alpina bicycle helmets: the familiar belt buckle with red push button and multi-stage automatic latching mechanism. Ergomatic can be operated with one hand - uphill you can loosen the strap, downhill you can tighten it - and cannot open itself in the event of a fall.

HI-EPS
The inner shell of every Alpina helmet is made of Hi-EPS ("High Expanded Polystyrene"). It consists of microscopically small air chambers which optimally absorb the forces acting on the helmet in the event of an impact. HI-EPS ensures extra-thin wall thicknesses and narrow helmet shapes despite its optimum protective effect.

INMOLD
In the Inmold production process, the polycarbonate upper shell of the helmet is "bonded" to the EPS granules of the helmet body under high heat and pressure. This creates a large and inseparable bond between the upper and lower shells. Advantage: The helmet is very light and extremely stable at the same time.

MIPS
MIPS is a system that protects against brain injuries that can be caused by rotational movements in the event of an impact. The low-friction insert enables a sliding movement of 10-15 mm in all directions and thus reduces the rotational movement in the event of a fall. MIPS thus offers additional protection.

RUN SYSTEM ERGO Flex
the Run System allows the size of all Alpina helmets to be individually adjusted using a smooth-running dial. The Run System Ergo Flex is the lightest and most comfortable adjustment system from Alpina. The filigree construction hugs the head evenly and thus increases protection. The Run System Ergo Flex can be adjusted using a fine ratchet - there is no more individual, smooth and comfortable way to adjust a helmet.

Y-CLIP
A helmet can only protect as well as it stays in the optimum position on impact. The fixation of the two straps under the ear plays a decisive role in this. The "Y-Clip" system from Alpina guarantees millimeter-precise adjustment - in a matter of seconds.
