Building on decades of proven reliability on the trail, the new mechanical DEORE XT rear derailleur and the new shifter offer optimised ergonomics and improved shifting performance. In this way, SHIMANO brings top-level innovations to one of the most trusted component families in mountain biking.
Ergonomics for greater control – The new DEORE XT shifter offers optimised ergonomics and a more intuitive feel. A shorter lever travel, a clearly defined pressure point and a more precise second detent ensure direct feedback. At the same time, the revised lever position improves control on the trail, whilst the optimised cable routing ensures a tidy cockpit.
Several shifter variants are available for different bike types and drivetrain configurations. For 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+ drivetrains, the SL-M8200 shifter offers a multi-shift function for classic mountain bikes. The SL-M8210 has been specially developed for high-torque e-bikes and allows only single-shift operations to protect the cassette. As a third option, the SL-M8230 is designed for 11-speed LINKGLIDE drivetrains. All DEORE shift levers are available in both an I-SPEC EV version and a variant with a handlebar clamp.

The release lever on a RAPIDFIRE Plus shifter is pulled towards the grip, just like the trigger of a pistol. The release lever on the new RAPIDFIRE Plus shifters from ALIVIO to XTR can be operated in the same way. However, it can also be used to shift gears simply by pressing with the thumb.

RAPIDFIRE Plus has been used by mountain bikers since 1985. RAPIDFIRE Plus continues to be used successfully by a wide variety of riders, from cross-country racers to freeriders. RAPIDFIRE Plus is designed for fast shifting. The rider can shift down by up to three gears with a single lever movement. All RAPIDFIRE Plus shift levers, from DEORE to XTR, are equipped with 2-WAY-RELEASE (release in two directions). This means that the shift cable is released by pulling with the index finger or pressing with the thumb.
I-Spec-EV
I-SPEC EV creates a clean, action-optimised cockpit layout that helps more riders achieve greater concentration and flexibility.

Thanks to the wider adjustment range, the I-SPEC EV levers can be set to the optimal position for a wide variety of riding styles (ENDURO, XC, etc.), rider preferences and rider anatomy (hand and arm position). With I-SPEC EV, the brake clamps are positioned further inwards. This creates an additional contact point between the handlebar and the brake lever, which increases the lever’s stiffness. This additional support significantly improves control over the bike and braking performance. At the same time, there is still space between the clamp and the support point for other handlebar-mounted accessories.
