HOLLOWTECH II
The concept of HOLLOWTECH II technology is focused on producing a superior crankset which will maximize a rider’s power transfer. The rigidity of the crankset ensures pedaling efficiency while its weight, a key element of the crankset, you want light, aids in cycling longer distances over which the rider needs to pedal more. Naturally, SHIMANO strove for the optimum balance between the conflicting needs of stiffness while producing a lightweight crank. HOLLOWTECH technology is an ultra-lightweight hollow crankarm created by SHIMANO with the company’s own proprietary forging technology that also maintains rigidity. passt und dreht sich leicht
Habe mein altes SM-BB91-41 Lager austauschen wollen und habe erst später entdeckt, dass SMBB94-41A wohl der Nachfolger gewesen wäre. Habe dieses auf gut Glück bestellt, aber scheinbar ist es baugleich, zumindest von den Abmessungen. Bei mir ging die alte FC-M770 9fach-Kurbel (Hollowtech II) etwas schwer rein, die Passung war recht straff (habe mit dem Hammer nachgeholfen), aber evtl. gehört das ja so, wechsel sonst immer nur SRAM-Lager, da gehts von Hand rein.
Works and easy installation, applied some carbon assembly grease for my carbon frame. There is also some grease for the parts that slide in another pre applied, I added a little more for more mud and water resistance. With the radon press fit tool the job went ok, just the drive side had a small space left but the other not, so I just used a plastic hammer sideways for the 1-2mm space to hammer it in. Always be carefull not to overtighten things because you can destroy your frame, you need to look at both sides.
Recently switched to a shimano crank + this BB to mount it in. Shape makes it a bit easier to install then the gxp pressfit bb, and its cheaper. Comes with a lot of grease pre-applied. You may want to remove that prior to installation and put it back afterwards.
