Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

Frame-size in cm: multiply your Inside leg length by the factor 0.61. Frame size in inch: multiply your Inside leg length by the factor 0.24.If the theoretical value lies between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- Rather the smaller frame size when riding sportsmanlikely
- Rather the next frame in size when riding tour-orientated
- Deduct approx. 5 cm (or 2 inches respectively) of the theoretical size when using spring-mounted seat posts.

Product information "SLX FC-M7100-1 12-speed Crank without Chainring"
The mountain bike group that supports all adventurous riders: SLX 1x12-speed Crank FC-M7100-1 from Shimano
In addition to a new special 12-speed chain (CN-M7100) with the corresponding new 12-speed QUICK LINK lock, SHIMANO is also equipping the SLX M7100 with new cranksets for 12-speed (FC-M7100/7120/7130-1). Most of them use 1-speed systems and a range of chainrings (30T to 34T) is available. The new SLX 1x12-speed cranks are characterised by DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT+ technology, whose special high-precision tooth profile ensures that the chain finds optimum grip on the upper part of the chainring on rough terrain, but detaches equally well from the chainring at the bottom, thus ensuring efficiency, smoothness and low noise of the drive. The cranks are equipped with a direct-mount system for quick and safe assembly of the chainrings, enabling chainrings to be changed in no time at all. The crank is available in boost and non-boost specifications.
After setting the benchmark in mountain bike components with SHIMANO XTR M9100 and new DEORE XT M8100, Shimano rounds out its now entirely 12-speed performance mountain bike component lines with new SLX M7100. SLX M7100 cascades technology from new XTR M9100 and DEORE XT M8100 - namely Shimano’s signature premium shifting and braking performance - while maintaining the SLX hallmark of value and durability.

DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT+SPECIAL GEAR TEETH FUNCTION SHIMANO’s DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT+ is a special gear teeth profile designed for use in single-chainring configurations for XC, enduro, and trail riding. It gives more chain retention and smoother pedaling - even over bumpy terrain. Chain retention of any gear will reduce abrasion and worn out.
HOLLOWTECH II
Providing the best balance of stiffness, strength, weight and rotating performance The concept of HOLLOWTECH II technology is focused on producing a superior crankset which will maximize a rider’s power transfer. The rigidity of the crankset ensures pedaling efficiency while its weight, a key element of the crankset, you want light, aids in cycling longer distances over which the rider needs to pedal more. Naturally, SHIMANO strove for the optimum balance between the conflicting needs of stiffness while producing a lightweight crank. HOLLOWTECH technology is an ultra-lightweight hollow crankarm created by SHIMANO with the company’s own proprietary forging technology that also maintains rigidity. The addition of HOLLOWTECH II technology integrates the bottom bracket axle with the right crankarm for more stiffness and a weight savings to achieve a high-dimensional balance. Its outboard bottom bracket bearing system provides better weight distribution and more pedaling stability, allowing for more efficient power transfer. The HOLLOWTECH II crankset has been developed by pursuing the optimum balance of stiffness & rotating performance in a lightweight and beautiful crankset design. High Precision Sealing Moreover, HOLLOWTECH II crankset has a high-precision sealing in the bearing area to increase durability maintaining the excellent rotating performance for long periods.
