Shimano’s CUES SL-U6001 2-speed Rapidfire Plus Mono and 11-speed Rapidfire Plus shift levers are characterised by a lightweight, ergonomic and compact design. Shifting between the large and small chainrings is done using just a single lever. The new shape of the levers and the minimal effort required to operate them ensure ease of use and a high level of comfort. For riders, this means a cleaner-looking cockpit that better complements the design language of modern bikes.

SHIMANO is extending its ‘Clean Cockpit’ concept to a wider range of hydraulic brake and shift levers, thereby making cleaner cockpit layouts and tidier cable routing more accessible across a broader spectrum of cycling segments.

SHIMANO’s ‘Clean Cockpit’ concept, first launched in 2023 with the high-end CUES series, was developed to enhance the visual integration and aesthetics of modern bicycles. By creating a tidier handlebar area and better-organised cable routing, the concept helps to create a more refined and contemporary look for the bike.

Although the concept was well received, its application was initially limited to a small number of high-end bikes. With this latest product update, SHIMANO is now bringing the ‘Clean Cockpit’ approach to the mid-range market, starting with new hydraulic brake levers and compatible shift levers.

2-Way Release
The release lever on a RAPIDFIRE Plus shifter is pulled towards the grip, just like the trigger of a pistol. The release lever on the new RAPIDFIRE Plus shifters, from ALIVIO to XTR, can be operated in the same way. However, it can also be used to shift gears simply by pressing with your thumb.

The RAPIDFIRE PLUS MONO LEVER offers intuitive and simple front control, enabling riders to shift both up and down using a single lightweight and compact lever.

RAPIDFIRE PLUS MONO LEVER’s simple and intuitive lever operation allows riders to shift both up and down using a single lever. It supports front double shifting with natural finger positioning and intuitive shifting operation whilst maintaining a firm grip on the handlebar. 2WAY-RELEASE functionality delivers instantaneous push and pull movements to help riders respond quickly and accurately to rapidly changing conditions.

Rapidfire Plus
RAPIDFIRE Plus has been used by mountain bikers since 1985. RAPIDFIRE Plus continues to be used successfully by a wide variety of riders, from cross-country competitors to freeriders. RAPIDFIRE Plus is designed for fast gear changes. The rider can shift down by up to three gears with a single lever movement. All RAPIDFIRE Plus shift levers, from DEORE to XTR, are equipped with 2-WAY-RELEASE (release in two directions). This means that the shift cable is released by pulling with the index finger or pressing with the thumb.
