SMARTNET Silica
With the experience and know-how from motorsports, Pirelli has developed a patented racing tire compound for cycling, which guarantees maximum grip and smoothness on both dry and wet surfaces. The elongated shape of the silica molecules, in contrast to the spherical silica molecules used in the past, allows a new level of refinement of the tread compound, resulting in better handling thanks to the orientation of the compound in the rolling direction. In addition, the higher mechanical strength of the tread, achieved through the improved interaction of silica with other components (such as aramid fibers distributed directly in the compound), increases puncture protection and tire life.
SPEEDCORE
The best performing tubeless road tire construction in Pirelli's range is made of a rubber compound enriched with aramid, which envelops the inner layer of the tire and makes it airtight. This new structure makes the tire more resistant, but at the same time less stiff and faster, as the flexibility of the compound is higher compared to a bead-to-bead fabric.
