Katana BCA-2 Brake Piston Spreader + Alignment Aid for Disc Brakes 2-in-1
Product information "BCA-2 Brake Piston Spreader + Alignment Aid for Disc Brakes 2-in-1 "
No more squeaky disc brakes! The Katana BCA-2 is the ultimate multi-tool for quick, precise and hassle-free maintenance of hydraulic bike disc brakes. This clever 2-in-1 multi-tool combines two of the most important functions for brake servicing in a compact design – ideal for quick pad replacement and perfect brake caliper alignment.
Features - Katana BCA-2 Brake Piston Spreader + Alignment Aid for Disc Brakes 2-in-1
- Gentle brake piston spreader (Piston Pressing): The robust, tapered side allows you to push the brake pistons safely and evenly back into the caliper when changing the pads. The flat profile minimises the risk of damage to the sensitive pistons or pads
- Integrated alignment aid (Rotor Aligning): The two precision-machined, thin stainless steel plates simulate the perfect clearance between the brake disc and the brake pads. Simply slide them over the rotor, secure the brake caliper and enjoy a perfectly centred, wobble-free brake
- Compact stainless steel construction: Made from a robust, non-warping stainless steel-aluminium alloy for maximum durability in workshop use – with an ultra-light weight of just 33.5 g
- Ergonomic handling: The tool sits extremely securely in the hand and allows for precise force application when retracting the pistons
Product features
- Model: Katana BCA-2
- Functions: Brake piston resetter / spreader, brake caliper adjustment aid
- Compatibility: Universally suitable for almost all standard hydraulic disc brakes on MTBs, gravel bikes and road bikes (2-piston and 4-piston systems)
Material
- High-quality stainless steel and lightweight aluminium
Colour
- silver/black
Weight
- 33.5 g (manufacturer’s specification)
Contents
- 1 x Katana BCA-2 brake piston spreader + 2-in-1 disc brake alignment aid
Instructions
1. Retract the pistons: Leave theold pads in place and carefully slide the wedge-shaped side of the Katana BCA-2 in between to push the pistons fully back into the housing.
2. Centre the brake caliper: Fit thenew pads. Slide the alignment side of the tool over the brake disc and directly into the brake caliper. Slightly loosen the caliper’s fixing bolts, pull the brake lever firmly and hold it down. Tighten the bolts alternately and pull the tool upwards to remove it. Done!
Instructions
1. Aligning the brake caliper (rotor alignment)
- Purpose: To ensure the correct clearance between the brake pads and the brake disc.
- Step 1: Slightly loosen the brake caliper bolts so that it can be moved.
- Step 2: Slide the tool over the brake disc from above, with the thin metal plates leading the way
- Step 3: Position the tool so that the plates sit exactly between the brake pads and the brake disc.
- Step 4: Pull the brake lever firmly and hold it down. Tighten the brake caliper bolts alternately. Pull the tool upwards to remove it.
2. Pushing the pistons back (piston pressing)
- Purpose: To spread the brake pads and retract the pistons.
- Method: Carefully slide the wedge-shaped, thicker side of the tool between the old brake pads. Applying gentle pressure will push the pistons back into the housing evenly.
