Insulating winter road cycling shoe with GORE-TEX®: the G.ICE-STORM Road GORE-TEX® by Gaerne
An elastic and water-repellent collar with adjustable closure provides maximum insulation, the rear strap for easy adjustment and reflective inserts for increased visibility in adverse lighting conditions. Abrasion-resistant reinforcements are located in the toe and side areas.
The highly insulating midsole features an addition of thermo-reflective aluminum to form a thermal barrier that keeps your foot warm and dry. The non-slip BOA Fit System with IP-1 dial platform allows for a quick, effortless and precise fit. The closure runs across the entire front of the shoe. A supportive insole ensures comfort and efficiency while pedaling.
The Gaerne EPS Carbon Power sole is made of nylon reinforced with carbon fibers to ensure high stiffness. The ultra-thin thickness reduces the distance between the foot and the pedal for optimal power delivery. Non-slip rubber inserts in the front and rear of the sole provide stability off the bike. Five vents guarantee ventilation of the shoe. The sole has an anti-slip insert in the toe area and a replaceable pad in the rear area.

Sock Tips for GORE-TEX® Bike Shoes
The socks worn in shoes with GORE-TEX® must match the functional characteristics of the shoes. Although you might think that thick socks are the first choice to protect you from the cold, they have a serious disadvantage: the thicker the sock, the more difficult it is to wick sweat away from the foot. In the worst case scenario, the sock even soaks up sweat completely. This creates the unpleasant feeling of dampness and wetness. However, this does not depend on the shoe. The wetness comes from the inside. So it's better to wear somewhat thinner socks made of a functional material that wicks moisture away to the outside and thus promotes evaporation through the membrane pores.
Technologies
GORE-TEX®
The GORE-TEX® membrane makes the shoe waterproof, breathable and ensures an excellent foot climate.
EPS CARBON G.POWER SOLE
The EPS Carbon G.Power Sole is made of nylon, reinforced with carbon fibers, to grant superior rigidity. The ultra-thin thickness decreases the distance between the foot and pedal, allowing for optimal power output. Non-slip rubber inserts in the front and rear of the sole provide stability off the bike.
CLOSURE SYSTEM BOA IP-1
The new BOA IP-1 reel has a triple functionality: to close the right shoe turn the reel clockwise and to open it turn counterclockwise, the exact opposite is for the left shoe. Lift the reel to fully open the shoe. The new BOA IP-1 reel has a hexagonal shape that, combined with the rubberized finish, makes it the more effective grip.
