More space for your legs
Compared to women’s, the male pelvis is less flexible. This means that men sit more upright on the saddle and place greater strain on their sit bones. As a result, the transition area between the rear and front of the saddle can be kept narrow (Y-shape). This gives the legs more room to pedal.
The right size
The shape and size of a saddle’s seating surface must match the rider’s sit bone spacing. As the pelvic bones taper forwards in a V-shape, the saddle must be able to provide a sufficiently large contact area for the sit bones across different riding positions. Saddle widths are selected so that the usable seating surface corresponds to the distance between the rider’s sit bones. The more a rider leans forward, the further forward the sit bones make contact with the saddle.
