Product information "SR Tri Pro Carbon Women’s Mid Triathlon Saddle"

The Ergon SR Tri Pro Carbon Women’s Triathlon Saddle is a lightweight racing model designed to deliver more power on the bike whilst reducing muscle fatigue before the run. Developed in collaboration with the world’s top athletes.

There are female cyclists who tend to place the bulk of the weight on the middle section of the saddle when in the aero position and therefore require a specific shape to avoid painful muscle fatigue and maximise their performance.

Features – Ergon SR Tri Pro Carbon Women’s Mid Saddle

  • Ergonomically tailored to the female anatomy for various time trial positions
  • Two variants: for weight distribution far forward on the saddle nose with a low upper body, or for a moderate time trial position with the centre of pressure in the middle of the saddle
  • Super-light yet stiff carbon rails ensure lower weight and direct power transfer
  • Relieves pressure on the perineum and genital area
  • Specialised cushioning to minimise pressure, helping maintain performance over long distances
  • Reduces back fatigue and improves pedalling ergonomics
  • A more dynamic sitting position makes the transition to running easier

Find your power position
Years of research as part of the Tri project have shown that not all triathletes are the same. Some riders put more weight on the centre of the saddle, whilst others sit on the front section. That’s why the Ergon development team devised the Power Position concept and designed a separate saddle for each sitting position.

Ergonomics for the Power Position Mid
The SR Tri Women Mid is designed for triathletes who tilt their pelvis less in the aero position, thereby placing their centre of gravity over the middle of the saddle. This means you need a narrower saddle nose that is longer than that required by riders who prefer the front position.

Y-shape for comfort and performance
The more upright pelvic position in the mid-position requires a narrower and longer nose to ensure optimum freedom of movement. This Y-shape effectively prevents fatigue in the back muscles and, in combination with the ergonomic padding and relief channel, ensures optimum protection for the sensitive genital area.

Developed with top triathletes
During the three-year development phase of the Tri project, Ergon’s experts analysed various riding positions among top triathletes. Jan Frodeno and Laura Philipp ride in the Power Position Mid, whilst Imogen Simmonds and Jan Stratmann ride in the Power Position Front.

Optimal adjustment with the BMR line
On all SR Tri saddles, the Biomechanical Reference Line (BMR line) is marked on the saddle surface. This indicates the saddle’s meridian – the point at which the saddle is exactly 75 millimetres wide. The BMR line serves as a reference point for correctly adjusting height, seating position and tilt, as well as ensuring the correct saddle-nose distance. In the Fittingbox Road too, the BMR line is a key reference point for precise adjustment.

Perfectly tailored padding
The SR Tri Men’s saddle pad is made from durable Orthopaedic Comfort Foam and is precisely tailored to the demands of long-duration triathlon riding. It is firm enough to prevent energy loss due to excessively soft padding, whilst at the same time offering sufficient cushioning to effectively reduce pain and strain.

Performance through freedom
With its Y-shape and narrow, short nose, the SR Tri Men Mid offers plenty of freedom of movement for optimal pedalling ergonomics. The increased freedom of movement ensures improved pressure distribution and relief for the sensitive perineal area, particularly during long rides in the aero position. It also provides lasting relief for the back muscles, which helps prevent pain and fatigue. This also enables a more effective start to the subsequent running leg of the triathlon.

Targeted relief against numbness and pain
During long rides in the aero position, the pressure on the sensitive perineal area remains very high for prolonged periods, thereby reducing the oxygen supply to the genital area. This can lead to numbness and, in the worst case, erectile dysfunction. The SR Tri Men is fitted with a particularly wide and deep relief channel, which guarantees effective pressure relief and thus reliably prevents discomfort.
