Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

Product information "SF Sport Gel Men Saddle"
Sporty, comfortably padded, ideal for increasing your fitness level: Ergon SF Sport Gel Men Saddle
The new fitness saddle ensures that your cycling enjoyment is not clouded by saddle problems. A perfect balance of sportiness and comfort, the SF Men Sport Gel distributes pressure evenly, which is an added bonus on longer rides. To avoid the common male discomforts and numbness, the anatomically adapted relief channel in the center of the saddle removes pressure from the sensitive soft tissue areas. In addition, the shape and high-quality padding of the saddle are adapted to the position of the upper body during sporty cycling and provides optimum support of the sit bones.
Features - Ergon SF Sport Gel Men
Ride longer without discomfort - more fun, more performance
It’s clear, if there are no discomforts while pedaling, the ride is much more enjoyable. You’ll become fitter and reach your goals faster. Whether it’s a longer ride on the weekend, the commute to work or a brisk ride around town – it’s much easier without saddle discomfort. That’s exactly why we developed the Ergon SF Men Sport Gel.
Sit more comfortably - sporty and comfortable
The SF Men Sport Gel is perfect for a sporty and comfortable position on today’s fitness bikes. The shape of the high-quality padded saddle supports the slightly inclined position of your upper body. This means that the pressure is optimally directed to the sit bones and sensitive soft tissues are relieved. In addition, with the SF Men Sport Gel’s aesthetic design, you visually enhance your bike with the eye-catching saddle design.
Deep relief channel - no material, no pressure
The very deep relief channel, which tapers to the rear, opens out into a hole. This design combines all the advantages of a cut-out saddle without its disadvantages (very stiff saddle shell) and optimally relieves the sensitive soft tissue regions. Too much pressure in this area often leads to discomfort and numbness.
Anatomic Gel Pads - Even pressure distribution
When cycling, most of your body weight rests on the saddle. To prevent discomfort in the extremely sensitive soft tissue and genital areas, the pressure is distributed as evenly as possible over the sit bones with anatomical gel pads. On longer rides, the gel pads of the SF Men Sport Gel, are noticeably more effective than with the traditional padding found on the SF Men model.
Orthopedic foam - comfortable and robust
The padding is made of orthopedic foam, which we have tuned to be ergonomic and extremely durable. Orthopedic foam distributes the pressure much better – so that you feel comfortable at all times, even without traditional padded cycling shorts. The saddle is covered with robust microfiber.
Male pressure relief
The Ergon development team has done intensive research on men’s health. The main cause of discomfort for men when cycling is the saddle. High pressure on the extremely sensitive perineal area leads to feelings of numbness, among other things. The testicles and penis, on the other hand, rarely cause discomfort because they can avoid the pressure of the seat. The SF Men relieves the male perineum: with MRI and CT analyses, many prototypes and test riders, we have ergonomically adapted the saddle to the anatomy and needs of male cyclists.
More free space for the legs
The male pelvis is less flexible than that of women. This means that men sit more upright on the saddle and put more strain on the sit bones. Therefore, the transition area between the rear of the saddle and the nose of the saddle can be kept narrow (Y-shape). This gives the legs more free space for pedaling.
Men are different
In contrast to the female anatomy, men’s pubic tuberosities are much steeper and the pubic symphysis is much higher. We have also taken this significant difference between men and women into account in the development of the saddle.
The right saddle size
The shape and size of a saddle must fit the rider’s sit-bone width to avoid discomfort. That’s why Ergon offers the SF Men in two sizes. Since the pelvic bones taper forward in a v-shape, the saddle should always provide sufficient support surface for the sit bones in different sitting positions. The saddle widths are selected so that the usable area corresponds in each case to the sit bone distance and distributes the pressure optimally. The more forward a rider sits, the further forward the sit bones touch the saddle.

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars
Seems well made, but it's not for me unfortunately . I find this saddle uncomfortable on my fitness bike, absurdley so, because comfort is it's main selling point. I put the stock saddle back on my bike, it's quite minimalistic compared to this 'high tech' saddle, but it still annoys me less. The only way to find out if the saddle works, is mounting it, and riding it, and afterwards, you can't return it anymore, understandably. So quite the waste of money. Maybe I should look into an endurance road bike saddle, that's less over-engineered.
