Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

Highest quality, short distances, more sustainability
Design, development, production - everything about the GP4 Evo is "Made in Germany". This guarantees the highest standards across all manufacturing processes: maximum product quality, short transport routes, fast delivery times and secure supply chains. By sourcing all raw materials from Germany and using almost exclusively recycled plastics, Ergon also contributes to increased sustainability and produces virtually waste-free.
Grip rubber made in Germany
The material used for Ergon grips meets the highest quality standards, is TÜV-certified, durable and unique in the world, using only medical-grade white oil as a plasticiser. The UV-stable Longlife rubber compound is developed and manufactured exclusively for Ergon in Germany. Ergonomics, product design and engineering - all made in Germany.
Always clamps, and that's a good thing
The GP series clamping system is extremely secure and easy to fit. Each handle is fixed with just one screw and is thus reliably protected against twisting. Also important: Ergon aluminium clamps are forged and not pressed. The GP4 and other GP models with super-light, flexible bar ends made of glass fibre composite and non-slip rubber inlays provide you with additional gripping positions.
It's all in the mix
Minimal friction - maximum comfort: The super-soft, UV-stable Longlife rubber compound developed by Ergon offers reliable grip when cycling with its texture fields, lies comfortably in the hand and noticeably increases riding enjoyment.
Fits every gear type
Some models in the GP series, including the GP4, are available in special versions for different gear systems. Both grips are the same length for regular gears. The version for Gripshift® or Dual-Twist-Shift twist shifters includes two shortened grips, for Rohloff®, Nexus® and Single-Twist-Shift only the grip on the right-hand side is shortened.
From the original wing grip to the GP4 Evo
The Ergon GP1 has been the reference for bicycle wing grips for 20 years. Proven millions of times over, the global bestseller has been honoured with countless test wins and awards. But that wasn't enough for Ergon. They have continuously improved the original for touring and fitness riders in terms of function, materials and workmanship and are now setting a new milestone with the Evo version. More ergonomics is not possible.
