Continental Aero111 TR folding tyre
Product information "Aero111 TR folding tyre"
Continental AERO 111: The next generation of aerodynamic road bike tyre performance, developed in close collaboration with the experts at DT Swiss and Swiss Side. The AERO 111 is based on the race-proven technologies of the GP5000 TR series and sets new standards in aerodynamics. The race-optimised Black Chili Compound ensures excellent grip and lower rolling resistance, whilst the tried-and-tested Vectran Breaker provides puncture protection.
The patented, aerodynamically optimised tread design features 48 precision-moulded air chambers. These so-called ‘vortex generators’ create controlled turbulence, causing the airflow to hug the rim for longer, which reduces drag and optimises handling in crosswinds.

Conti Knowledge
For the initial fit, we recommend using at least 30 ml of Conti RevoSealant per tyre. Then rotate the tyre or wheel to distribute the Conti RevoSealant and inflate to maximum pressure. Check the pressure again before your first ride and top up if necessary.
Compatibility and safety instructions for Tubeless-Ready tyres (XX-C = hooked rims; XX-TSS = hookless rims, with a straight inner wall):
25-622 [developed: 19C]: hookless max. 5.0 BAR / 73 PSI (≤21TSS), hooked max. 7.5 BAR / 109 PSI (≤21C);
28-622 [dev. 19C] hookless max. 5.0 BAR / 73 PSI (≤25TSS), hooked max. 6.5 BAR / 94 PSI (≤25C);
30/32-622/584 [designed for: 21C] max. 5.0 BAR / 73 PSI (≤25TSS/C); [ETRTO-2021 not approved for 25-622 on 23TSS].

Technologies
TR (Tubeless Ready)
The carcass construction is particularly durable and resistant to damage and the ingress of foreign objects. The result: your tyres are versatile, lightweight and feature an attractive design. Furthermore, tyres featuring this technology can be used tubeless or in combination with an inner tube.
Vectran Breaker – The benchmark in puncture protection
Vectran™ is a synthetically produced high-tech fibre modelled on a natural material. Like spider silk, Vectran™ is a liquid-crystalline polymer (LCP). Vectran™ is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectra and further processed into a multifilament yarn. Both spider silk and Vectran™ possess enormous tensile strength whilst being extremely lightweight. These are precisely the right properties for use as a puncture-protection insert in a Continental Top tyre. A Vectran™ breaker is lighter, more flexible and offers more effective protection against cuts than comparable nylon breakers. The Vectran™ breaker does not affect rolling resistance.
Vortex Generators
The aerodynamically optimised tread design is strikingly different: 48 small air chambers are evenly distributed across the tyre’s surface. These so-called ‘vortex generators’ channel the turbulence on the surface of the front wheel. The result: a ‘perfect storm’ that enables a reduction in the aerodynamic drag of the entire wheel-tyre system.
Sailing effect – with Aero111
The sailing effect (forward thrust) increases at all speeds. Even with lower rim profiles, riders benefit from this effect because the laminar airflow remains in contact with the rim for longer, reducing the aerodynamic drag of the wheel-tyre system.
BlackChili Compound – It’s all in the mix
The performance characteristics of a tyre’s rubber compound are largely determined by three interrelated factors – static friction [grip], rolling resistance and mileage. The dilemma is that improving one of these factors inevitably leads to a deterioration in at least one other. A tyre with maximum grip wears out more quickly and rolls more slowly. If you make the tyre faster or more durable, its grip is reduced in turn. With our Black Chili Compound – a tread compound always based on the latest findings in polymer and raw materials research – we have provided the cycling community with a lasting solution. We tailor the compound formulation specifically to a tyre’s intended use – whether for road bikes or mountain bikes, time trials or downhill riding. For Black Chili, we refine special synthetic rubbers with tried-and-tested natural rubber to create particularly high-performance tread compounds. We then add carbon black particles to these compounds, which are themselves optimised in terms of shape and surface properties.
