This technology is the most prominent feature of the new dynamo diode rear light TOPLIGHT Line plus: Above the large reflector sits the active lighting unit. In a clear strip-like housing a patented lens system can be found that spreads out the light from two LEDs to become a homogenous and brilliant strip of red light. Instead of a lonely speck of light in the nondimensional darkness that makes it all but impossible for succeeding traffic to estimate the distance to the cyclist, an approaching car driver now sees TOPLIGHT Line plus's bright and continuous strip of light. This spatial relation grants the driver a drastically improved perception of the distance between his car and the bicycle. TOPLIGHT Line plus also shines sideways and thus reaches an exceptionally wide beam angle of 320°, guaranteeing optimal visibility from almost every direction.
After only a three-minute drive, the serially included, fully automatic standlight is charged. It extinguishes four minutes after the bicycle stops. However, if one does not want to draw the attention of thieves to the parked bike, the standlight can also be deactivated manually using the easily accessible switch on the back side. Should light be needed longer still, one only needs to get the bike rolling for a few inches and the standlight will ignite again for another four-minute cycle - as long as the charge of the integrated capacitor permits.
Yet Busch & Mueller is not content to set new technology standards, they also continue to present smartly designed products. The lean and elegant TOPLIGHT Line plus looks stylish - especially when mounted on super-slender carriers, and with only 53 g it is a true flyweight among rear lights. Two threaded studs (mounting distance 50 mm) are used to securely fasten the rear light onto the carrier.

The best dynamo rear light you will ever buy. Very bright, highly visible at an angle of 320° as stated above. And yes, the added brake-light facility really works, based upon the rapid reduction of frequency from the dynamo, which produces 6V AC. The wire connections can be plugged onto the provided lugs with standard dynamo wire plugs which are crimped onto the wires. But this light also features connectivity via a wire-end-squeezing lever facility which also works very well. My preferred way of ensuring long term reliability of electrical connection is to solder the wires directly onto the lugs (with due care not to melt the plastic enclosure) and covering the solder joints with heat shrinks. The wires are routed along the frame to the dynamo (front wheel dynamo) light by securing the wires to the frame with cable ties, allowing for play of wires for the turning of the front fork. As the wires are also cable-tied to the pannier rack on which this light is mounted, difference of vibration between the wires and the light is avoided, thus not subjecting the solder joints to constant vibration which would cause the joints/any connection to break. This light is brilliant, brilliantly bright, totally reliable. The best quality dynamo rear light you will ever buy. The best quality dynamo rear light in existence.
