Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

Technologies
AIR FLOW VENTING
Alpina developers spend a lot of time and energy on continuously improving the ventilation of our bike helmets. Through wind tunnel-tested arrangement of the vents, our engineers create a "Venturi" effect inside the helmet, which cools the head, leads to less sweat and higher performance.
CERAMIC SHELL
All Inmold-manufactured helmets from Alpina are fitted with this shatter- and scratch-resistant polycarbonate shell. The blank is stretched under high heat to the shape of the later helmet and pressed under high pressure onto its Hi-EPS body. The material is characterized by several qualities at the same time: It is break- and scratch-resistant, UV-stable and antistatic.
CARBON TEC
Carbon Tec provides the best possible protection. The high-performance carbon material is processed using the inmold method. The integrated carbon plates in the outer shell make the helmet more resistant. Forces acting on the helmet at certain points are absorbed by the carbon fibers, distributed over a larger area and thus weakened.
EDGE PROTECT
Edge Protect is a processing method that ensures that Inmold helmets have no sharp edges. This reduces the risk of injury in two ways: firstly, the hands are protected when handling the helmet, and secondly, in the event of an impact, the neck and shoulder area are protected from scratches on contact with the lower edge of the helmet.
ERGOMATIC
Tried and tested hundreds of thousands of times and used in all Alpina bicycle helmets: the familiar belt buckle with red push button and multi-stage automatic latching mechanism. Ergomatic can be operated with one hand - uphill you can loosen the strap, downhill you can tighten it - and cannot open itself in the event of a fall.
HI-EPS
The inner shell of every Alpina helmet is made of Hi-EPS ("High Expanded Polystyrene"). It consists of microscopically small air chambers which optimally absorb the forces acting on the helmet in the event of an impact. HI-EPS ensures extra-thin wall thicknesses and narrow helmet shapes despite its optimum protective effect.
INMOLD
In the Inmold production process, the polycarbonate upper shell of the helmet is "bonded" to the EPS granules of the helmet body under high heat and pressure. This creates a large and inseparable bond between the upper and lower shells. Advantage: The helmet is very light and extremely stable at the same time.
RUN SYSTEM ERGO Flex+
the Run System allows the size of all Alpina helmets to be individually adjusted using a smooth-running dial. The Run System Ergo Flex is the lightest and most comfortable adjustment system from Alpina. The filigree construction hugs the head evenly, thereby increasing protection. The Run System Ergo Flex can be adjusted using a fine ratchet - there is no more individual, smooth and comfortable way to adjust a helmet.
Y-CLIP
A helmet can only protect as well as it stays in the optimum position on impact. The fixation of the two straps under the ear plays a decisive role in this. The "Y-Clip" system from Alpina guarantees millimeter-precise adjustment - in a matter of seconds.
SHIELD PROTECT
The removable shield protects against splashing dirt as well as direct sunlight.
