Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

Product information "Grade 4 Belt Children's Bike"
Ultra-light junior bike that meets the latest ergonomic requirements
"Engineered by SCOOL". The developers of the ACADEMY Bikes, in cooperation with the German Institute for Orthopaedics, Osteopathy and Sports Medicine (DIOOS), under the direction of Dr. medical Andreas Elsner has succeeded in developing ultra-light junior bikes that meet the latest ergonomic requirements. All models are lighter than 40 % of a normal child's weight, and the frames with deep and narrow bottom brackets allow for narrow, child-friendly leg guidance. Short pedal cranks and the upright sitting position allow you to put your feet on the ground at all times and still ensure an ergonomic knee position while driving.

Technologies
Belt drive
Here, too, Academy strictly adhere to their "super light concept" - belt drives are extremely light. Other plus points: less maintenance, a longer service life and, on top of that, very quiet, what more could you ask for?
The stem
The patented Syntace Vario stem grows with you in height and length. The stem principle can be continuously adjusted and is 100% stable in any position. This always guarantees an optimally adjusted seating position, which means that your Academy Bike can effortlessly grow with you. Adjustment range: 55-105 mm, Length: 70mm, Flip flop: yes, Angle: 6 degrees.
Q-factor
The Q-factor describes the overall width of the cranks and plays an important role when it comes to the efficiency of the pedaling movement. Ideally, the Q-factor on the bike should match the rider's step width. A small Q-factor is more ergonomic, while a Q-factor that is too large forces the legs into an X-position when pedaling. An ergonomically correct, round pedaling is hardly possible. The result: knee pain, rapid fatigue and faster reaching of the performance limit. The ACADEMY bikes offer one of the smallest Q-factors here and are therefore optimally designed for children to pedal.
Frame
The weight of a bike has a significant influence on the fun and enthusiasm of children. A good children's bike is only a good children's bike if it is really light and optionally adaptable! With their Academy Bikes, they achieve this goal with light frames and components and even go one better. The lowered top tube offers a low step-through height, which makes it easier for children to get on and off.
Saddle
One, sit down! The straight seat prevents the sit bones from slipping and guarantees ideal support. The deepening of the saddle shell also relieves pressure. An optimal seat cover (not too soft and not too hard) avoids sinking in and ensures a secure seat with a lot of comfort and driving pleasure!
Tires
Since the strength-to-weight ratio of children is our focus, Academy rely on the light and narrow VEE Tire Skinwall Synthesis. Its cross-country profile makes it perfect for use in the city as well as for trips over gravel roads. It also looks good with the skinwall, but also offers optimal protection in traffic thanks to the reflective strips!
