Flattop technology is so much more than a distinctive look. It allows the 12-speed chain to be lighter, stronger and more durable than anything that came before. The Sram Apex chain uses the same construction as the Rival and Force chains, with a polished grey finish.
Racers and their drivers are faster and more efficient than ever before. But the translation of our cars has not kept pace with this change. It has been limited by tradition. With the sole aim of improving the modern riding experience on the road, Sram has completely redesigned the road bike ratio. The new Deep Range technology. Not only does it offer more translation bandwidth, but this bandwidth is also better. It has “depth“: A smoother, more useful gear graduation. Intelligent shift settings, made possible by AXS™, bring the simplicity of a 1-speed drive to 2 speeds. So you always have the right gear and the translation is not in your way. Flattop™
To be able to offer deep range technology, Sram had to develop a narrower chain. The unique joint shape of the Flattop technology not only enabled the this narrower chain, but also resulted in a quieter operation, increased strength and longevity.
Powerlock®
SRAM chain engineers developed PowerLock® as a tool free, sure, and consistent way to connect our chains. While PowerLock® does not require special tools for install, the especially tight tolerances of 10-, 11- and 12-speed drivetrains mandate that each PowerLock® is good for a one-time application only.
