SQlab ONE12 R - Bib Shorts with Pad
Product information "ONE12 R - Bib Shorts with Pad"
High-quality – Minimalist – Simple: the SQ-Short ONE12R from SQlab.
Thanks to their firm construction, the SQ-Pads retain their shape. They do not slip uncomfortably inwards, as is often the case with many thick, soft pads when pedalling. Furthermore, the SQ-Pad 12R is designed for the very sporty riding position on a road bike, where the pelvis rotates significantly forwards, and is positioned within the SQ-Short.
The ultrasonically welded seams offer a high level of comfort and are particularly flexible. The welded seams prevent chafing and skin irritation. The flexible, breathable straps provide consistent tension whilst offering optimal support and stretch.

Technology
SQ-Pad 12 R
- Firm & Thin
The SQ-Pad 12 R is specially shaped for the very athletic riding position on a road bike, where the pelvis is rotated significantly forwards. The pad, which is no more than 4 mm thick, initially feels exceptionally firm and high-quality. This very thin cycling pad becomes increasingly comfortable as you cover more kilometres and moulds beautifully to the shape of your body. - Adaptable & Comfortable
The SQ-Pads are universally suitable for any sit bone spacing. The slight extra width ensures that, even during the pedalling motion, the sit bones rest firmly on the pad and do not slide inwards. Conclusion: A saddle that is too wide can cause problems – a pad cannot. Why is the SQlab pad hard and thin?
The myth of the soft saddle: The sit bones are designed to support body weight and can withstand high pressure. A bicycle saddle that is too soft causes the sit bones to sink into it. This irritates sensitive tissue, as well as muscle and tendon attachments. This means that sit bones that sink in deeply lead to greater strain on the perineal area in men and the lower pubic arch in women. But this is precisely where the question arises: why do we ride on firm saddles, only to then simulate a soft saddle using thick and super-soft cycling shorts padding? Because the result is the same: sinking sit bones, restricted blood flow and increased friction.
- Why haven’t firm pad inserts been around for longer?
Because high-quality foams with better cushioning properties have a higher density and therefore lose breathability. Using a patented process, we have managed to break down the structure of the very dense foam. The result is high breathability, comparable to conventional pads or even better. At the same time, the perfect cushioning is fully retained.
