The ABS-1 Pro HP is a premium chuck, but you need to understand the physics behind it. Unlike cheap clamp-style pump heads, the Lezyne chuck DOES NOT mechanically press the Presta valve stem down. The valve opens solely via the air pressure coming from the pump hose. If you want to pump exactly 8 Bar (or any high pressure) with zero air loss, follow this checklist: 1. Prep the valve: Loosen the Presta valve nut all the way and press the stem down once with your finger until it hisses. This unsticks the valve core (crucial if you use sealant). 2. Thread it on: Carefully thread the chuck onto the valve (3-4 turns) until the rubber seal fits tightly. 3. Pump: The first stroke might cause the gauge needle to jump, but once the air forces the valve open, the gauge will show the actual tire pressure. 4. Use the ABS button (The Magic Step): Once you hit the target pressure, do not unscrew the chuck yet! Press the ABS button first. It releases air ONLY from the pump hose. The Presta valve inside the tire shuts instantly due to internal pressure, locking your 8 Bar inside with zero loss. 5. Remove: Unscrew the chuck in complete silence. No air loss from the tire! Troubleshooting: • If the gauge pressure skyrockets but the tire stays flat, the valve is stuck. Press the ABS button, remove the chuck, and manually unstick the valve stem again. • If the valve core unscrews together with the chuck: Do not blame Lezyne! It means the core was loose from the factory. Use the built-in valve core tool on the back of the ABS-1 Pro to tighten it properly. Also, inspect the tiny rubber O-ring on the valve core to ensure it is not twisted or damaged. Highly recommended for road/gravel cyclists who value precision over haste!
