The new DEORE XT comes with either a two-piston brake for cross-country use or a four-piston brake for trail/enduro use. The new design of the brake lever, which is mounted at an angle to provide two points of support on the handlebars, significantly increasing stiffness, provides more direct feedback and braking performance, which is further enhanced by SERVO WAVE technology. Ein ganz hervorragende Bremse - ideal für ein eBike bei dem „10g“ mehr gegenüber einer XTR nicht ins Gewicht fallen. Lange Abfahrten mit den gekühlten Bremsbelägen sind kein Problem mehr - da diese Bremsbeläge teuer sind, auch egal, es passen ebenso einfache Bremsbeläge die nur die Hälfte kosten. Die 4 Kolben arbeiten sehr zuverlässig - definitiv ein Unterschied zu einer einfachen 2 Kolben Bremse. Ungeeignet ist die Bremse für Rennräder und Leute die bis auf das Gramm alle Teile optimieren. Fazit - eine „schwere“, aber sehr zuverlässige Bremse für das eBike.

Am Anfang waren die Bremsen wirklich klasse, aber mit der Zeit und Verschmutzung werden die immer schlechter. Dann wird der Kolbendruck ungleichmässig. Das passiert bei 2 Kolben auch, aber bei 4 ist das Problem weitaus grösser. Also, wenn ihr nicht extrem downhill fahrt oder >100kg wiegt, dann lasst die Finger von diesen Bremsen und nehmt die Shimano XT BR M8100 2 Kolben Bremse. Mit der hat man auch eine tolle Verzögerung und lange Freude, weil wartungsärmer.
