Calculate frame size
The right size of your hardtail mountain-bike:
The Inside leg length is multiplied by 0.226 and thus you get the theoretical value of the frame size in inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm.
If the theoretical value is in-between two sizes, the following rule of thumb can be applied:
- choose the smaller size when riding athletically
- choose the larger size when riding tour-orientated
How to determine your Inside leg length:
The Inside leg length or stride height is the length of the inside of the leg. The most accurate way to measure your stride length is to use a spirit level and a tape measure or folding rule. Stand barefoot on a flat surface, clamp the spirit level horizontally between your legs and measure the distance from the upper edge of the spirit level to the ground. This value corresponds to your stride length.
Alternatively, you can also determine your frame height based on your height, see the table below. However, the method using inseam length is more accurate.

- Rather the next frame in size when riding tour-orientated
- Deduct approx. 5 cm (or 2 inches respectively) of the theoretical size when using spring-mounted seat posts.

Removing the headband is very easy: simply press the buttons under the chin guard and lift it upwards. The Switchblade MIPS has the new Roc Loc® Air DH Fit System, which is designed to prevent accidental adjustment when in contact with the backpack or neck brace. When the chin guard is removed, inbuilt vents on the cheek pads help keep a cool head on the way to the next uphill stage.

MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System)
MIPS is a sliding plane system inside the helmet, which has been developed to slow down or prevent the amount of energy that is transferred towards or away from the head.
X-Static® padding
The X-Static® pads are woven with silver threads. Quick-drying and antibacterial, they prevent odour build-up, while the thermal properties of the X-Static® pads give the rider a cooling sensation in hot weather and a warming sensation in cold weather.
P.O.V. PLUS
The P.O.V. Plus visor has an adjustment mechanism with which the visor can be adjusted up and down in 3 stages. In addition, the visor can be pushed up so far that the goggle can be pushed onto the helmet during a break, for example. Adjustment is easy with one hand and while riding.
Roc Loc® Air Fit System
The revolutionary Roc-Loc® Air Fit System has the same outstanding features as the Roc-Loc®-5, plus it impressively increases airflow and ventilation inside the helmet. The unique design creates a small air cushion between the helmet shell and the head, allowing the air to flow and cool the head without compromising on fit and comfort. A new level of fit, comfort and ventilation that can only come from Giro.
In-Mould
With the In-Mould construction, the robust polycarbonate outer shell is bonded to the impact-absorbing EPS inner shell in a single step during the foaming process. This makes the helmet even more resistant without adding weight. This production process also makes it possible to mould significantly better ventilation systems and ventilation openings. Compared to traditional helmets, in-mould helmets are therefore lighter and have significantly better ventilation systems.
