As with a hydraulic brake, both pads are activated and ensure precisely controllable braking force and even pad wear. A simple adjusting screw is all that is needed to adjust or readjust the pads without tools. The compact dimensions (only 40 mm wide), low weight and compatibility with all common mechanical road brake levers on the market round off the Spyre.

C'est le jour et la nuit comparé à mes Promax d'origine. Installation très facile. Un rodage léger et les freins sont opérationnels. J'ai enfin trouvé un freinage digne de ce nom sur mon Genesis CDA. Ils n'ont pas le dosage des freins hydrauliques, mais ils s'en approchent fortement. Je pense remplacer les plaquettes d'origine par des Shimano pour avoir un toucher encore meilleure. L'écartement des plaquettes est lui aussi facilement réglable, et enfin le disque ne se tord plus à chaque freinage. Pour conclure, ces freins sont un excellent compromis aux freins hydraulique, pour un prix bien inférieur et une très bonne qualité.
