This tool does one thing: when re-assembling the Alfine 11 hub, it helps installing the Right Hand Cone w/Cap (to hold in place the bearing, no 20 on the exploded diagram of the SG-S705). It is hollow inside, it slides on the axle, and then helps pushes the cone for the perfect distance (using a light hit with a hammer). You can try to push the cone back to its place with any similar metal tube, however, with this tool it is at the correct distance and pressure. If you take apart your Alfine 11 for cleaning, or to change from oil lubrication to grease, this tool makes the workflow a bit easier when assembling.
