The CX145 is built on Lake's amazing Fiberglass injected Nylon sole. Lake’ s Nylon sole is world famous for its uncompromising comfort and performance. No other injection nylon sole offers the same level of stiffness or comfort.
The upper is made of softshell fabric, water repellent microfiber, Thinsulate insulation (200g) and a waterproof membrane that makes it a highly water resistant cycling shoe suitable for a variety of conditions. The Clarino microfiber offers high durability and the suppleness of leather with a significant reduction in weight.
Mid Power M4 Cartridge Tongue mounted BOA closure excels in ice, dirt and challenging environments and is designed to be easily adjusted with gloves on. The compact adjustment wheel combines durability and strength to withstand intense use without compromising comfort and fit. Combined with the Click-Fit quick release, the system makes it easy to put on and take off.

Textile / SyntheticMy actual score would be 4.5. These boots are perfect in their role of keeping your feet warm. The craftsmanship is top notch (regardless of a small defect on the left insole's heel region in my boot). Very pleasant to wear and surprisingly not too bulky. Rode in - 1°C without any cold sensation. Also rode in +17° without being cooked. However, they retain the moisture inside as well as the heat, so any kind of a ventilation wouldn't be welcomed when riding in cold. Prior to purchase, I measured my feet and it indicated I need size 40 and I was almost in between normal and wide variant. I chose size 42 in regular width (bcs of Gaerne, Van Rysel and some Shimano models sizing) 42 was a perfect choice. However, the boot feels a bit narrow with that thick insoles. So, if you're nearing the width margin, go with the X (wide) version or plan to change the insole for a thinner one.
