The ProTection technology gives tires the perfect blend of smooth running, grip and puncture protection. This is made possible by an additional puncture protection layer running all around, which makes the entire tire particularly resistant and insensitive to injury. Despite additional layer, the tire has a very good damping property and irons cleanly over the toughest trails. BlackChili provides the necessary smooth running and grip. Another feature of the ProTection technology from Germany is the Tubeless Ready suitability. The revolutionary Tubeless Ready foot allows easy and uncomplicated mounting of the tire. For optimal results in sealing and in use, we recommend the use of the new Continental RevoSealant sealant.
BlackChili
The running characteristics of a tire's rubber compound are largely determined by three interacting factors - static friction [grip], rolling resistance and mileage. The dilemma: If one of these factors is improved, at least one of the others is worsened. A tire with maximum grip wears more quickly and rolls more slowly. If you make the tire faster or more durable, its grip is reduced. With our Black Chili Compound, a tread compound that is always based on the latest findings in polymer and raw material research, we have provided the cycling scene with a lasting answer. Depending on the area of use of a tire, we specifically tune the compound formulation - whether for the road bike or mountain bike, for time trial or downhill. For Black Chili, we refine special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to create particularly high-performance tread compounds. We then add carbon black particles to these compounds, which in turn are optimized in terms of shape and surface properties.
