The focus is on the protective function that these pants offer. Assos developed the IMPACTOR design for this, a two-layer system used for the hip panels. It is combined with ripstop dyneRope material. The main part is made of OSMOS Heavy, which offers maximum insulation thanks to its roughened side. On the front, Assos' bladder protection technology is made of OSMOS Light material and a second, overlapping layer of perforated SPHERE Ultra Hole. The stretchy, membrane-supported 2L softshell features "micro-holes" that dissipate excess heat while providing wind and moisture protection. The GTO straps and leg panels are designed for proven stability with Assos rollBar and a one-piece butterfly panel. Each leg panel is also made with a louvreTec design that narrows towards the bottom to fit snugly to your leg shape. This results in a custom-fit sleeve with compression. In addition, the pants score with integrated abrasion and impact protection.
Other features of the Mille GT Winter c2 GTO include an open-edged, sealed welt that provides a smooth transition between body and fabric for increased comfort without the feeling of pressure. At the back, there is a supportive X-shaped frame created from a folded single section of elastic material. This gives limited vertical stretch. A waterBarrier technology is used at the end of the leg section, which is reliably water repellent and fits securely against the overshoes. The impactPad TPU hip pad has been reworked by Assos, is removable and offers increased breathability and freedom of movement due to its perforated surface.
Rounding out the bib shorts is the MILLE c2 GTO pad, designed with the proven Assos-goldenGate seamless side panels and inverted seams throughout for high comfort without friction. The foundation of the pad is microShock - an 11mm high, lightweight foam with shock absorbing properties. Thanks to 3D waffle, a patented, three-layer foam, breathability is increased without adding weight. Between microShock and 3D waffle is an intermediate layer, filterFoam, a 10mm high matrix foam with lower density, whose open-cell structure wicks away excess moisture. It also fully absorbs micro-vibrations. The front padding section of sunDeck superlight is made of ultra-soft, foam-free material and forms a pre-shaped shell that provides both support and maximum air exchange to the male anatomy. With this pad, Assos also introduces its twin21 system, which consists of three separate layers.
