DT Swiss 350 Classic MTB HYBRID Disc 6-Bolt 15x100mm Front Hub
To withstand the higher torque of e-drive systems, the DT Swiss 350 Classic MTB HYBRID Disc 6-hole hub is equipped with a steel rotors and a specific 24t ratchet out of hardened steel. Oversize bearings ensure smooth running under extreme conditions.
The patented freewheel system, which features high-precision star ratchets, guarantees top performance and reliability. The simultaneous engagement of the ratchet teeth makes the Ratchet System extremely reliable since the loads are distributed equally across a large contact surface.
No-Tool Concept
The plug-in construction of the Ratchet System hubs allows for quick and tool-free maintenance.
Freehub Body Conversion
The no-tool concept allows the conversion to a different drivetrain standard within seconds.
Bearing
DT Swiss hubs are designed to function optimally once installed in a bicycle. To achieve this, the clamping force created by the wheel mounting system must be taken into account when constructing a hub. Learn how to ensure the optimal rotating property of the ball bearings and discover why DT Swiss does not offer hubs with adjustable bearing clearance.
Bearing Clearance
In order for a bearing to rotate, there must be a certain amount of play in the thousandth of a millimeter range. Without this clearance, the bearing cannot rotate. Bearing play occurs both radially and axially. Axial clearance describes how far one bearing ring can be displaced longitudinally relative to the other without load. Radial clearance is measured vertically to the center axis of the bearing.
Hub Construction
DT Swiss hubs are engineered to have the optimum axial and radial bearing clearance when the hubs are properly installed in the wheel and bike. To achieve this, it is important to assemble the hub in the correct order. To start, the first bearing is pressed into the hub shell so that it sits flush with both the shell and the axle. The second bearing is then pressed in so it sits flush with the axle, but not with the hub shell. Therefore the axle is minimally compressed. The bearing sits at a press-fit, in which the outer bearing ring can no longer move relative to the hub shell.
Preloaded Ball Bearing
The axle is now slightly compressed axially and exerts a force on the inner rings of the bearings. This causes the bearings to be preloaded. The inner or outer bearing rings thus press on the balls. This results in frition when the bearnings are not installed, which is also noticeable.
Minimum Friction
If the hub is now installed in the frame or fork, a clamping force is transmitted to the axle by the wheel mounting system, which compresses the axle and thus acts against the initial preload of the bearings. As a result, the bearing rings no longer press axially on the balls and the bearings can thus rotate optimally with minimum friction when installed. If, on the other hand, the axle and bearings were not preloaded before installation, the clamping force of the wheel mounting system would compress the axle and thus lead to increased friction of the ball bearings when installed.
Reliable, simple and e-bike specific hub: the 350 Classic Hybrid hub from DT Swiss
HYBRID hubs have oversized housings with increased wall thickness, are equipped with heavy duty axles and have extra reinforced spoke mounts. Furthermore, they are equipped with new 24T ratchets made of hardened steel as well as oversized bearings and steel rotors. Thanks to these clever optimisations, DT Swiss achieves a permissible system weight of 150 kg with only a minimal increase in weight compared to a standard MTB hub. The result is a jewel of a hub that can handle the highest torques, offers direct propulsion and, combined with the other HYBRID components, results in extremely robust wheels.Product features - DT Swiss 350 Classic MTB HYBRID Disc 6-Bolt 15x100mm
