The hydraulic disc brake from Shimano with 4-piston postmount caliper BR-M8120 for the front wheel in combination with the 2-piston flatmount caliper BR-M8110 for the rear wheel and the 2-finger brake levers fits seamlessly into the strong line-up of the new XT M8100 group. The compact design is designed for the limited space on the frame.
The new Flat Mount 2-piston brake caliper for the rear wheel is optimized for cross-country use. With this brake caliper, SHIMANO also offers a high-quality option for current frame design trends, which offers the same performance as a comparable post mount version in terms of braking power. The caliper can be fitted with either resin or metal pads, each with or without cooling fins. Disc brake rotors with a diameter of 140/160/180 mm are compatible.

The new DEORE XT comes with either a two-piston brake for cross-country use or a four-piston brake for trail/enduro use. The new design of the brake lever, which is mounted at an angle to provide two points of support on the handlebars, significantly increasing stiffness, provides more direct feedback and braking performance, which is further enhanced by SERVO WAVE technology.
