Sehr bequeme Schuhe.
Recently got these to replace my well-used Shimano AM701. Both are size 41. The AM901 might be slightly narrower, but not enough to size up for me. Both the upper and the sole is slightly stiffer than the AM701. Still I feel they need a pedal with some platform in order to avoid hot spots on multi hour rides. The sole has deeper lugs with more space between them so there is more traction when you need to push your bike. Still far from a regular hiking shoe though. When new the cleats don't touch the floor so they are quiet when walking, but this might change as the sole wears. They are walkable, but too stiff to walk around for no reason. The speedlace system is faster than normal laces, but as a whole I find the combination of speedlace+velcro strap+velcro cover more complicated than the laces and strap of the AM701. The cover does offer some extra protection from dirt, debris and water, but I'd be fine without it. As with the AM701, the front of the AM903 has a number of holes around 1.5-2mm that let plenty of air in. This is welcome on the hotter days as the upper's material is not breathable itself. On colder days though my toes get really cold and water from rain or splashes gets in easily. The tongue is padded and on the thick side, I think It could do with a little less padding. The toe area is reinforced and should offer enough protection against rocks etc. A good AM/gravity shoe, but I think the AM7 series fits my needs better.
