A waterproof and breathable technical GORE-TEX® approach shoe: The Wildfire Edge GORE-TEX® by Salewa
When you pass the laces through the extra eyelet and tighten them, your foot is pulled forward like a climbing shoe. The result: climbing with the toe and stepping on friction becomes easier and safety on technical terrain improves. Switching back to a hiking boot works by simply loosening the laces. This widens the toe box and provides greater comfort while hiking.
Underneath the highly abrasion-resistant upper (suede and microfiber) is the thin, highly breathable GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort membrane for maximum comfort in a wide range of weather conditions. Your feet will stay dry in wet weather, but if you start to sweat during high-intensity movement, the moisture that forms can still escape.
To improve precision while climbing, the Wildfire Edge is also equipped with an Edging Plate, an insole plate under the forefoot that adds extra stiffness to this key area when climbing. The rest of the insole remains flexible to ensure a high level of comfort and a natural rolling motion.
The Pomoca Speed MTN sole is made of a rubber compound that adheres particularly well for high friction on slabs and other smooth rock structures. The outsole design provides a balance between grip and traction, and the special lug pattern has proven itself on muddy and soft surfaces. It gives you effective grip - in both dry and wet conditions.
The Exa Shell structure provides additional torsional stability: it gives the foot protective support and prevents slipping in the shoe. In addition, your foot is protected by Salewa's 3F system, for a precise fit and firm grip while remaining flexible. Climbing Lacing, Salewa's climbing shoe lacing system, goes all the way to your toes - so you can tighten the shoe individually. The Wildfire Edge is equipped with Multi Fit Footbed Plus (MFF+), a special footbed that you can adjust to your foot shape through the interchangeable sections. This shoe benefits from Salewa's signature Alpine Fit and "100% Blister Free" guarantee.

Technologies
Gore-Tex®
In technical apparel, GORE-TEX® fabrics are at the forefront of waterproofing, breathability and durability. The GORE-TEX® membrane is completely waterproof and windproof, while allowing evaporated perspiration to pass through to the outside. The membrane is made up of pores (1.4 billion pores per square centimeter) that are 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water but 700 times larger than a water vapor molecule, so water can't penetrate but the skin can breathe. Durability was tested in the laboratory by simulating the most extreme atmospheric conditions.
Pomoca®
Description Pomoca® Gliding Path supports the natural s-shaped rolling movement of the foot. A special s-shaped lug design, the gliding path, provides a smooth rolling motion and reduces deformation energy. A traction zone next to the glide path provides grip on varying terrain due to the lug structure.

The 3F system connects the lacing system, sole and heel - for the perfect combination of fit, flexibility, support.
CLIMBING LACING
Climbing Lacing provides precise lacing in the toe area of the shoe, for more support and performance in difficult terrain.
EXA SHELL
EXA Shell structure wraps the foot laterally, providing a precise fit and perfect forefoot balance. It also minimizes wear and tear on the upper.
